Dewey Hall Folk Concert Series, Bobby Sweet
September 11 – 8:00PM. 91 Main Street, Sheffield. www.deweyhall.com.
Western Massachusetts native Bobbie Sweet is a well-known name in the music world. A sixth generation musician, he played in his father’s band at the age of 7 and has released five albums, the latest being Days Roll By. The multi-talented Sweet has shared the bill with top country and folk artists, written songs for hit TV shows, and been featured as an instrumentalist on a number of recording star albums. He’s been hailed by Dave Madeloni of the Berkshire Eagle as “perhaps the Berkshires’ finest singer-songwriter working today.”
Stylistically, Bobby's music resides somewhere between John Prine, Jackson Browne, Guy Clark, and a countrified Bruce Springsteen. As a fan named S. Tucker succinctly puts it: “The way that Bobby Sweet plays and the way he pus together words and images, I feel that he is sharing more than just a song… he is sharing a past, a feeling, a want and a love of life. Bobby sings in a way that makes you feel that you know him. He stirs memories and puts salve on hurts…” www.DeweyHall.com, www.bobbysweet.com
Dewey Hall is a lovely architectural space with a stone exterior, wood interior and excellent acoustics. Tables are set with checkered table cloths and candles. Light refreshments are available. A lovely romantic setting. Concert series - first Saturday of each month.

SIRSY (www.sirsy.com) -- fiery, sultry, soulful, indie pop rock duo performs live at FLAVOURS! 21+
----
SIRSY's BIO:
"LITTLE BAND... BIG SOUND!"
--The Boston Globe (Boston, MA).
"Krahmer can sing, scream, blow flute, drum, & tease, and she does them all REALLY well. Libutti plays everything else (he even uses his feet!) ... GO SEE SIRSY!"
--The Village Voice (NYC).
"Radio friendly, and eye-friendly, but the material is actually REALLY good. Like pop songs used to be before MTV".
--Indie Sounds NY (NYC).
--------------------------------------
This fiery, sultry, soulful, indie pop rock duo is a musical breath of fresh air in the too often homogenized landscape of indie rock. SIRSY is fronted by the charismatic Melanie Krahmer who critics call a girl with a "stunning voice capable of a lion's roar and a floaty whisper"... a girl "with the lungs of a teenage athlete and the growl of a sixty-something blues singer". Krahmer is also the band's drummer, playing a full drum kit (while STANDING UP), bass parts (on a keyboard with her drum stick), a few Ian Anderson-esque flute solos and melodica, too. Rich Libutti plays everything else (guitar, piano, bass on a keyboard at his feet, and the occasional snare part with his feet (during Krahmer's flute solos). Despite the musical multi-tasking on stage, SIRSY’s live show is passionate, energetic, and always about connecting with their audience.
This critically acclaimed duo “wows audiences at over 250 shows per year nationally” and has played with: Maroon5, Lifehouse, Collective Soul, Third Eye Blind, Train, Blues Traveler, Cheap Trick, Vertical Horizon, Fuel, Grace Potter & the Nocturnals, Boys Like Girls, and many more..
SIRSY's well crafted, hook laden, songs are rich with infectious melodies. The lyrics are clever, quirky, fresh, and often emotionally raw– but very relatable. SIRSY's song "Revolution" was distributed worldwide through the November 2008 Relix Magazine CD (alongside Joan Osborne, Lucinda Williams, more). “Revolution” is also the opening track of the film, “So Right, So Smart” (starring Darryl Hannah, Guster, and Bare Naked Ladies). The music video for "Revolution" is in regular rotation on HBO. SIRSY is signed to Funzalo Records.
